She has come close several times but tonight, Kristina never
looked like losing on her way to claiming the title of the first
lady to win a tournament in the club's history.
The early going however belonged to Malcolm who rumbled to win after
win as he claimed a huge chip lead and several scalps to set a lofty
pace for the rest to follow.
He was soon joined by the two defending champs in Steve and Tony
who both started to gain some momentum and looked the most likely
to mount a challenge to Malcolm's massive chip lead. Unfortunately
for Tony the old adage of "easy come, easy go" seemed to be the
theme of the night as his chips disappeared as quickly as he had
accumulated them.
As the final table was formed Mick, who had been having a terrible
run the last few months, started to make a few moves which saw his
stack grow at the expense of some of the other players.
But it didn't take long for Kristina to start to wind up and once
she got that roll on she was never going to be stopped. One after
the other she toppled the stacks of the remaining few players, including
a few lucky "catches" one of which left Malcolm's ambitions of his
first win in shatters.
But once she got to heads-up against Mick she put her foot down.
Apart from a minor stutter she never looked like losing and with
win number one under her belt the rest of the players will be looking
over their shoulders as she hunts down number two.
