The Kingaroy High Rollers Poker Tour is a non-profit, members only club,
based in Kingaroy (Queensland, Australia) that was formed to allow it's members to
experience the fun and excitement of larger poker tournaments than would normally be
possible without travelling to one of the casinos in Sydney or Melbourne and incurring
great expense. Plus it's nice to be able to play against people that you mostly know, in a
friendly club atmosphere.
Once a fortnight a No Limit Texas
Hold'em Poker tournament is held where, unlike local pub poker games, a small entry fee is
paid up front to create a prize pool for the winning players. The format is the same as
you can see on TV with the World Poker Tour (WPT) or World Series Of Poker (WSOP).
Everyone starts with the same amount of chips and one-by-one players are eliminated until
only one remains and a winner is crowned. Our club was formed to be all about the members
and their enjoyment of poker so every possible effort has been taken to give everyone an
enjoyable year on tour.
To that end, we have a league
structure in place to reward the more consistent players throughout the year and add a
sense of purpose to each tournament. Our year culminates with our "Tournament of
Champions" where the final battle takes place for the highly coveted "High
Rollers Trophy" and, of course, bragging rights for the next twelve months.
To add even more spice to each
game and the season we have added some exciting elements like "Scalps" and
"High Hand Jackpots" as well as several hotly contested trophies and prizes
which will no doubt be as popular this year as they were in 2006.
Competition is always fierce but
friendly, and with the small amounts at stake each game not likely to upset the bank
balance, members find the club a great alternative to the other activities usually on
offer on any given Friday night.
